Hello, Hideo here. It's raining, isn't it.
This morning I drove my daughter to her day camp, and I'm writing this on the shore of Lake Biwa.
Kakuuchi Vol.2!
It's coming down too hard even to reach somewhere with a roof, so I've been tapping away at the keys in the car the whole time.
Why is it so muggy in the car when all I'm doing is tapping keys?? (laughs)
By the way, I thought up and typed every single character myself. This issue hasn't had AI write a thing.
This "me time" while waiting is very precious.
While raising children, it's really hard to make time to space out, or time to be alone.
I don't think "just stick them in front of YouTube" at all, and I believe raising children is "raising the parent". Children grow; parents are grown.
Sometimes I'd like to take it easy, but before I knew it, my daughter starts junior high next year.
Too fast! Happy and sad at once.
Actually, although AI hasn't written any of this, I did have it propose an outline — "how about writing on these themes and keywords?" — based on our exchanges since the last issue.
And so far I haven't followed it at all; it's turned into nothing but my kids.
My kids are adorable.
The AI agent's suggestion said something grand like "reworking the website amid conflict, and the practice of subtraction".
I think I'll just keep going off on this tangent.
Yesterday, everyone in the "my rice field" workshop finished planting.
Woo-hoo!! Clap clap 👏
For some years now I've been running rice-growing workshops.
I even get called "Teacher!" — or was it "Master!" I'm grateful.
I first wanted to grow rice in my twenties,
after reading "Owari yori hajimaru" by Jōren Matsui of Mugi no Ie.
From the start I decided: no pesticides, no fertiliser.
And while I was at it, no machines either — twelve years with just a spade and a hoe.
I've kept restoring abandoned farmland, and now there are even people who come to learn it.
I feel deeply now how grateful I am, and how fun it is, to have companions who sweat alongside me.
At the same time, once the DIY renovation settled down I started studying AI and marketing, and I'm finally exploring AI in earnest.
My main AI at the moment is Antigravity.
I've connected Obsidian to it.
Into Obsidian I've moved everything — the rice-farming diary I've kept for over ten years, my other blogs, articles written for the public — and I use it daily to pile up notes.
(You can read a post about this here.)
I'm writing this newsletter in Obsidian, too.
Everything I write stays as data, and Antigravity, understanding that data, grows into my secretary. That kind of self-sustaining system.
My wife Yu seems interested too; she got as far as installing it, and stopped there.
I was the same at first.
So I thought, "if we all worked on it together, maybe people could take that first step", and I'm thinking about a study group (AI Terakoya).
Interested?
I'll let you know when the details are decided.
Half of Saturday flew by, too.
A rainy weekend, but have a good day.
Until next time.
